Those leasing equipment to a construction project in Louisiana must deliver a completed Notice of Lease form within 30 days of first furnishing to protect their rights under Louisiana’s mechanics lien laws.
This form is for use on private construction projects in Louisiana. The Notice of Lease form should be sent to the owner and the prime contractor via certified mail with return receipt requested. A copy of the lease agreement must be included with the mailing.
Note: Louisiana’s preliminary notice rules changed for projects that began after January 1, 2020. The previous deadline for a Notice of Lease was 10 days — this deadline still applies on projects that began before January 1, 2020.
Rules and regulations for sending a Louisiana Preliminary Notice
This deadline applies to projects begun after January 1, 2020. Equipment lessors must send Notice of Lease within 30 days from first furnishing equipment. For projects begun before January 1, 2020 - the deadline to send notice is a mere 10 days from first furnishing.
