An Illinois Notice of Intent to Lien, also known as a “90-day Notice,” is a critical step to secure your Illinois mechanics lien rights on a private construction project. This Illinois lien notice form is required to be sent by any potential lien claimants who did not contract directly with the property owner. It should be sent by certified mail with return receipt requested, and delivery restricted to the addressee; within 90 days of last furnishing labor or materials to the project. Late notice can still be sent, but it will limit the amount of lien protection.
