Mechanics Lien Release

After payment of a claim is made, the lien should be released with the recorder.   A lien can be canceled for other reasons as well.   In Illinois, if a lien is expired or satisfied, the lien claimant may be liable for the attorneys fees of any party in having the lien released, if the claimant does not so arrange for the release.
