Washington DC Mechanics Lien
In Washington DC, contractors who perform construction work, and are unpaid, are allowed to file a Notice of Mechanics Lien against the property and the funds of the owner.
Washington DC Demand for Terms
A subcontractors or suppliers lien is limited to funds that is actually in the owner’s hand (i.e. not yet paid to general contractor). Because of this restriction, the DC Code allows subcontractors to demand from the owner a Statement Of Terms.
Washington DC Mechanics Lien Release
After a mechanics lien claim is satisfied, the lien should be released from the property records. A release can also be recorded because a lien expired, or for other reasons.
Washington DC Notice of Intent to Lien
This is not a required filing in DC. However, any party may deliver a Notice of Intent to Lien to the general contractor and/or the property owner to notify them that you intend to file a lien. This document requests that a payment be made within 10 days, or a lien will be filed.
