Last week we posted a blog article titled “Is This Capricious Action By St Tammany Clerk of Court?” The article addressed some behavior from the 22nd Judicial District Court’s clerk office, and specifically the head of Land Records there Ms. Jeanne Roques.
Read the article for the full details, but the digest is this: The recorder refused to cancel a lien for reasons completely unsupported by the law. The recorder, in other words, made up law.
After publication of our article, we were happy to receive in the mail the filed cancellation. Without notifying anyone or responding to our article, the recorder quietly changed its mind and cancelled the lien.
While much unnecessary effort and argument was required, it’s nice to see the recorder’s office here review the merits of our position and acknowledge that they were incorrect.
